Lost and Found

Chapter 3: Mom and Dad
"You knew Mom and Dad?" asked Winn.
"Oh, yes. Your parents were great friends of ours." Replied Maggie with a grin. "I remember the day your mom came by, with the news that that she was pregnant with you, Rose." Rose was astonished,
"Really? Do you. . .do you have a picture? Of Mom & Dad?" "Why, yes. A whole album actually. You see, we were. . . .close to your parents. We've known them since, well your Dad since he was born and your mom when she was little, very little." Replied Maggie.
"Do you want to see the album?" asked Greg, softly, looking from one to another. Rose and Winn looked at each other. See their parents pictures? They had never seen a picture of their parents before, barley had any memories of them. Though Rose had one. . .she had never told anyone, not even Winn, it was of when, she guess, she was very little and she and her parents were. . .flying. Not in a airplane or something like that but with wings. She had long beautiful wings and so did her parents, just bigger and prettier.
And they were laughing together. . .She had always thought it to be a dream but cherished it all the same. Rose quickly replied, "Oh yes please, very much!"
"Ok, come with us." Greg and Maggie stood and Rose & Winn followed. They walked down the hallway, the one that Maggie had gone down to get Greg and the now just about gone snacks, then went through a big oak door into a magnificent library. Rose and Winn stood in awe.
"How. . .this is a small cottage! How the. . .?" Winn gaped. "Don't always count on the outward appearance, Winn. Use your other senses." Winked Maggie, walking past the gawking kids.
"What did she mean by my other senses?" whispered Winn to Rose,
"I don't know but I guess we'll find out later?" shrugged Rose, not worried about it. Greg walked to a beautiful oak cabinet and pulled out a evergreen colored album. There was roses that looked real and a live. Violets that sighed in the sun light. And a picture in the middle of the front of the binder of a Evergreen with wind wrapping around it and violets and roses growing up the trunk and all around the base.
The children looked in awe. It looked alive! Just like the drawings on the desk, and the flowers wrapped around the book. Rose attentively reached our her hands for the book, looking from Maggie to Greg. They both nodded, smiling.
She took it, and with Winn right behind her, walked towards the couches and opened it. Rose gasped and Winn gawked. Inside, on the first page, was a picture of a man and woman, holding two little squirming children.
But what surprised them the most was that the people, were moving! The adults were laughing and the babies had funny looks in between a smile and a laugh. Maggie and Greg had followed and sat on ether side of the kids. Rose looked at Greg, who as setting next to her, and asked,
"Were. . .is there m-magic in our family? In the world?" Greg smiled and said,
"This picture is proof, is it not?"
Winn piped up,
"Is that Mom & Dad? Maggie nodded.
"And so is that. . .are those kids. . .us?"
Maggie grinned and grinned, rumbling up his hair.
"Mom looks just like me." Rose said softly,
"Or I look just like her."
Greg chuckled, saying
"Ether way you both are alike." Maggie nodded.
"And I look like Dad!" said Winn, jumping up and down some on the couch.
Maggie, looking solemn, put an arm around Winn to calm him down and said, very solemnly,
"There is magic in the world, Rose, but that means that there is also a good and bad magic too. Your parents were almost full blooded fairies."
Rose and Winn looked at each other and then Maggie & Greg. "Your joking, right?" said Rose, smiling but there was some hesitation in it. They had just met these people. Should she trust them?
What if they were just playing some joke that Rozia had set up and at some point they’ll say so and Rozia well come out of one of cabinets, laughing.
Winn laughed,
“Yea right. Your just joking around. There’s no magic.” Greg looked at him solemnly, “Then what do you make of this.” He got up and made up ward strokes as if he was making something tall and skinny.
All of a sudden golden sparkles came out of his hands and swirled around that area and a beautiful little evergreen tree started forming. It even had a little clay pot of it’s own.
When the little evergreen was done forming, it was about 3 feet tall, including the pot and about 1 foot around. Greg walked back towards the couch and gave the little evergreen to Rose, gesturing for her to keep it. Rose held it gingerly, gently brushing it’s branches. Rose looked up at Greg, smiling,
“It’s beautiful.” She said softly. Greg nodded and replied, “Now do you think there is such a thing as Magic?”
